WSA QF-2/WSA

[2] Siyoli Waters (RSA) 3-1 [8] Satomi Watanabe (JPN) 12-14, 14-12, 11-9, 11-6 (37 min)

Watanabe who now trains herself in Malaysia, did very well against Siyori who is ranked 36th.

In the 1st game, Siyori overpowered Watanabe who was not relaxed at the beginning but from the middle of the game, her stroke started to carry power. At tie break, both committed unforced errors but Watanabe was patient and won the 1st game. Watanabe was in contention with Siyori’s speed and was able to apply pressure. The game went seesawing and Watanabe caught up from 8-10 with Siyori’s two consecutive errors but Siyori won this game with rational control. In the 3rd game, play speed was even and the score difference does not go over 2 points. Watanabe led by 9-8 by winning 3 points from 6-8 but Siyori exerted more power and Watanabe seemed to be tired as much as she was keeping up the speed. In the 4th game, Watanabe committed easy unforced errors 3 shots in succession whereas Siyori maintained steady play and won the rally.
